We have just finished lacing up our first wheel with the Supernova Infinity S dynamo hub and can hardly wait until dark to try in on the way home.  The hub weighs a mere 399 grams and is rim brake or Shimano Center Lock disc compatible.  It boasts a higher output than a Schmidt eDelux, our other premium light weight dynamo hub offering, so you’ll have brighter light sooner.  All current LED Dynamo lights by B&M, Schmidt, and Supernova are compatible, so mix and match as you wish!

We’ve just received a shipment of Dura Ace 9-speed 12-27 cassettes we’d like to move in a hurry.

These are Shimano’s best 9-speed cassettes. The top three cogs are titanium on an alloy carrier and they are 179g light on our shop scale. The cogs are 12/13/14/15/17/19/21/24/27 (our most popular 9-speed combination).

Our shipment of 2012 Breezer bikes has arrived. We’ve got a good inventory of Uptown 8’s and Uptown 3’s.  These bikes are perfect for the upright positioned around-town rider.  Bike paths and casual rides most anywhere are happily handled by these capable rides.  Both models are equipped with fenders and dynamo lighting, so year-round any-weather use is possible, and they make excellent commuters.   Stop in for a look and test ride!

One of the things that is great about my job is attending various bike shows and gatherings.  The ones I enjoy the most are about vintage bikes, swap meets, and the like.  Interbike is the annual trade show an Las Vegas.  It’s cool, but doesn’t have the soul or hold the interest for me that smaller shows do.  It’s just too overwhelming and highly commercial.  But after all, that’s what it’s supposed to be about.

Last weekend, Peter Weigle had an open house at his shop in Connecticut.  He called it “French Fender Day” and it was, by all accounts, an overwhelming success.  About 40 people showed up.  Most brought rendered bikes to show and ride.  There were a few equally welcome non-fendered machines as well.

This weekend, I’ll be heading south to the Philly Bike Expo.  I’m really looking forward to the weekend!  Photos and a followup should be posted early next week.

D2R2 is coming up next weekend and I can’t wait to tackle it on my Goodrich-built Rivendell 650b conversion.  I’ve ridden the 100K course all but one of the years it has run (IIRC, that’s 5 of 6) and always on a different bike and tire combination:  26″ x 1.5, 700c x 40,  650b x 32, 700c x 32, and last year on 650b x 38.  This year promises to be the best ever on a set of shaved 650b x 42mm Hetres.   We’ll see. . .

The other new (old) product we’re carrying here at Harris Cyclery is Bike Ribbon Professional padded handlebar tape. The easiest to clean white handlebar tape by a long shot. Soft but not too soft, textured but not too textured, no logos all over your bars. It’s easy to wrap, doesn’t tear, and includes adhesive that’s strong enough, but not too strong for reuse. I’m a big fan of this style of tape, and have a sizable collection of discontinued colors. For now we’re carrying it in black or white. $9.95 here.
